Managed IT Services Pricing
How the market prices it
Most managed services run per user per month — commonly $100–$200 per user depending on scope and region — or per device at $50–$150. Flat-tier plans bundle monitoring, patching, help desk, and endpoint security. What varies wildly is what's excluded, which is where the real cost lives.
What we'd check before signing anything
Is per-incident billing disguised as management (if the invoice spikes when things break, it's break-fix)? Are projects, after-hours, and on-site visits included or surcharged? Is there a true-up clause that reprices mid-contract? An exit clause shorter than the term? These four questions expose most bad contracts.
How Velocity prices
Fixed monthly, scoped from the audit, disclosed in writing — including any vendor compensation we receive, so you know exactly what incentives are in the room. If we're not earning the fee every month, the contract is short enough that you can say so.
How much does managed IT cost for a small business?
For a 20-person business, expect $2,000–$4,000/month for real coverage — less than half a single IT hire, with a team behind it. The audit tells you whether you need the full scope or something narrower.
Why do MSP quotes vary so much?
Scope, mostly — identical-looking quotes can differ by what happens during an emergency, who owns projects, and what 'monitoring' means. We'll review a competitor's quote with you line by line; that conversation is free and you'll learn more from it than from any brochure.
